I am the president of the Friends of Bolivia, a charitable non-profit organization in Silicon Valley,Ca.The goal of Friends of Bolivia this year is to raise $20,000.

Our primary emphasis and reason for existence has been to raise funds to help charitable institutions in Bolivia.

Now, recognizing the incredible need that exists in the US, we are expanding our efforts to include concerns in the local community as well.

This year we will support after school programs for disadvantaged children in the Bay Area.
Because of all the cuts in Federal funds, children with mild learning disabilities do not qualify for most of the services they need.
In Bolivia we could provide a one year full scholarship with $35 US dollars; the same ammount in Silicon Valley provides 45 minutes of private tutoring.
I have learned through personal experience with many women on welfare, that sports uniforms are a luxury, that many can not afford, so part of the funds raised this year go to a fund towards this cause.
